This morning, the base’s high-altitude surveillance balloon was targeted and shot down by Iran’s proxies. This balloon provides important intel on movement on the ground and in the sky, making it an important target for those looking to harm the U.S. The loss of the surveillance balloon, while impactful, is unlikely to render the base vulnerable due to comprehensive redundancies for such occasions.
