The base of the Al-Omar oil field in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, in which the international coalition forces are stationed, was bombed with several missile shells, without causing any material or human damage.
After the attack, the coalition forces issued a statement saying that its military base was targeted by two 107 mm missiles, without causing any damage.
The coalition statement added that attacks of this kind endanger coalition forces and civilians and undermine stability and security in the region.
The bases of the international coalition deployed in the regions of northeastern Syria are exposed from time to time to armed missile attacks, mostly coming from areas controlled by Iranian militias.
On the nineteenth of last February, the bases of the International Coalition Forces in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor were bombed with several rocket-propelled grenades, without causing casualties.
On the 15th of last February, the US Central Command announced the downing of an Iranian drone, which was flying over a base of the international coalition forces in northeastern Syria.
The US command said in a statement: “On February 14, at around 2:30 pm local time, US forces in Syria clashed and shot down an Iranian-made drone, which was attempting to conduct reconnaissance over the Koniko field in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.”
The American command also published pictures showing the monitoring of the Iranian plane before it was shot down, and another of the moment it was targeted, which led to its destruction.
