The US State Department issued a statement stating that the return of refugees to Syria must be safe and voluntary.

The Arab declaration reaffirmed the renewed commitment to preserve Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and welcomed the statements issued at the Jeddah and Amman meetings.
The statement noted the willingness to initiate an Arab leadership role in efforts to resolve the crisis and the need to address the repercussions of the crisis on neighboring countries, particularly terrorism and drug trafficking.
In the statement, it was emphasized that Syria’s cooperation with Arab countries and its readiness to implement the outputs of Arab statements were warmly welcomed, and it was emphasized that practical and effective steps should be taken to gradually resolve the crisis.
