The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in the government of the Syrian regime counted the loss of 25 children to their families as a result of the earthquake, including 15 children in Aleppo and 10 children in Lattakia.
The deputy minister, Yasser Al-Ahmad, said that the orphaned children in Aleppo are currently with their relatives, while the children in Lattakia governorate have been enrolled in the “Mosaic” association.
He pointed out that the ministry is waiting to find the children’s relatives in Latakia to transfer them to it, according to the following “Global News”.
And loyalist media claimed that the statistics of the families affected by the earthquake reached 72,256 families in Latakia, including 54,544 families in the Latakia region, 7,296 families in the Jableh region, 6104 in the Qardaha region, and 4312 families in the Al-Haffa region.
The loyal Al-Watan newspaper quoted a source from the governorate as saying that among those affected were those who left their homes for fear of falling, based on the reports of the technical inspection committees, which conduct inspections of all buildings in the governorate and assess their condition.
In a related context, house rents rose in the city of Latakia, western Syria, after the earthquake, to reach two million Syrian pounds per month for an apartment, after it was estimated at about 400 thousand pounds, as a result of the large increase in demand for rents in return for little supply.
The loyal “Melody” radio quoted a real estate office owner as saying that the highest price for a furnished apartment in a privileged location was about one million pounds before the earthquake, while the average house rent is now about 1.4 million pounds, and an empty room is between 150,000 and 200,000 pounds.
