Syrian activists and opposition organizations condemned the gunman killing of Kurdish civilians and wounding others as they celebrated the “Nowruz” holiday in the city of Cenderes, in the northern countryside of Aleppo, on Monday.
Dozens of people attended a demonstration in the city of Cenderes to demand the perpetrators be held accountable, and the families of the victims demanded that the perpetrators of the crime be brought to justice and all opposition groups withdrawn from the region.
The “Kurdish National Council in Syria” accused members of the “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” faction of the “Syrian National Army” in shooting a group of young Kurds during the lighting of the “Newroz” torch, killing four people.
Stating that the perpetrators are demanded “to be brought before an impartial international court and without delay”, the Council called on Turkey, as the de facto authority there, to “take a stance to condemn this terrorist act and hold the perpetrators who insist on holding them accountable”. It does not take a deterrent stance in its previous violations and takes these actions by deporting them.”
In response, the “Syrian Islamic Council” called for the murderers to be held to account, while the “Independent Kurds Association” called for the perpetrators to be held accountable and the armed groups removed from the city.
The Liberation and Construction Movement, to which the Eastern Army, which is accused of committing the murder of Cenderes, is affiliated, made a statement denying any of its members was involved in the case and said that the perpetrators of the crime were caught. civilians, not soldiers.
The phrase “liberation and construction” was matched by another, published by the “Ministry of Defense” in the Syrian Interim Government, which confirmed that a soldier and a civilian were responsible for the crime that killed 3 civilians and injured others, but did not do so. clearly states the identity of the perpetrators.
“The circumstances of the crime began when two people from the eastern region objected to a fire being built near the camps set up after the earthquake that hit the area, and the incident developed with both people shooting at civilians, which resulted in loss of life and injuries,” the movement said in a statement.
The movement “condemned” a “shameful act against human values and divine laws”, claiming it was able to arrest one of the perpetrators in collaboration with the military police, and said members of the “Sharqiya Army” had committed the murder.
In response, the interim government’s Department of Defense issued a statement calling it a “heinous crime” against civilians as a result of the argument among the residents of the neighborhood.
In the preliminary investigations, it was stated that the argument that broke out between the “betrayed” and two people, one civilian and one soldier, showed that the perpetrators fled by shooting.
It is worth noting that the people of the region organized mass demonstrations demanding the removal of military headquarters in the cities, especially Afrin and Jandires, in the north of Aleppo.
