White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby confirmed that he did not rule out the possibility of taking action against the pro-Iranian militias in Syria.
The US official denied the withdrawal of power from Syria, emphasizing that his country does not intend to reduce its military presence in the country.
In an interview with “CBS” he added: “I certainly do not rule out the possibility of launching an attack if the President feels there is a need to protect our military and bases.”
Emphasizing that the US is determined to maintain its military presence in Syria, he noted that the mission of the US forces to eliminate ISIS will not change.
Pointing out that there are less than 1,000 American soldiers tasked with eliminating ISIS in Syria, Erdoğan said that “the number is sufficient to accomplish the task”.
In a related context, Democratic Representative Raja Krishnamurthy confirmed that US forces will not leave Syria, considering that Washington is doing exactly what it needs to do to respond to Iranian militias.
He believed that American forces should remain in Syria and work with their partners in the fight against “ISIS”, referring to the Kurdish “Kasd” forces, according to the network “ABC”.
