The American magazine “National Interest” confirmed that the recent Iranian attacks are “a final reminder that the United States is still at war in Syria and that American troops there are in danger.”
Evaluating that the attacks on US forces in Syria embodied the US “turbulent” policy in the Middle East region, President Joe Biden urged the administration to reassess this policy in order to achieve its most vital national interests.
The magazine said in a report that the “vague targets” of the United States there did not indicate that it was any closer to leaving Syria than when it first grounded its troops.
The report warned that Americans in Syria, which the Biden administration is committed to protecting, face real dangers from Iranian militias, Syrian regime forces and the Russian “Wagner” group.
The magazine pointed out that Biden’s move to end or reduce the US’s “endless wars” in Afghanistan and Iraq did not include Syria.
