The security units of the Syrian regime and the Iraqi Nujaba militia launched a raid and arrest campaign targeting large numbers of civilians in Damascus.
Patrols from the Military Security Branch raided more than 7 homes on the outskirts of the town of Hafir al-Fawqa in the countryside of Damascus, conducting an extensive search of the homes and checking the identities of all residents.
Other patrols also toured the area and stopped randomly to search for civilians and passers-by and conduct security checks.
The campaign lasted about an hour and a half and resulted in the arrest of five youths, some displaced from the town, some from rural towns in Damascus.
Among those detained were “Ali Suleiman” and “Muhammad Al-Asi”, and the two youths were from the town of “Rankous” in western Kalamun in the Damascus countryside.
Iraqi Harakat al-Nujaba militia affiliated with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards also arrested 6 youths from the Katana district in rural Damascus, amid reports that the movement intends to launch a large arrest campaign in the region.
These arrests took place against the background of the public’s rejection of the Shiite religious rites performed by Iranian militias.
It is worth noting that Iranian militias are working to spread the Shiite sect in the areas under their control in Syria and impose conscription of young men and children.
