Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Turkey on Thursday evening to discuss a series of bilateral files with Turkish officials, including the Syria case.
Lavrov will meet with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, where he will discuss bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy and tourism, the situation in Syria, Iraq and the Caucasus, the resumption of Armenian-Turkish relations and the Ukraine crisis.
According to the news of the Russian “Novosti” agency, Lavrov and Çavuşoğlu will focus on normalizing relations between Turkey and the Syrian regime and will discuss the “Akuyu” nuclear power plant project, which was built by the Russian company “Rosatom” for nuclear energy.
The two sides will also discuss the grain agreement, which was extended for a period of 60 days in mid-March, and the removal of Western barriers to Russian agricultural products and fertilizers reaching world countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Çavuşoğlu hosted Lavrov at the iftar table at the ministry’s headquarters in Ankara, which was attended by Russian Ambassador to Ankara Alexei Yerhov.
According to a statement from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two ministers are scheduled to hold an official meeting tomorrow Friday and discuss numerous regional, international and bilateral files.
