Majid bin Mohammed al-Ansari, adviser to the Prime Minister of Qatar and official spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that Doha’s stance towards Syria has not changed.
Al-Ansari said that Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani will visit Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, next Friday to attend the consultation meeting of the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Iraq, Jordan and Egypt. on Syria.
Al-Ansari stressed that Qatar’s position on the Syrian regime is “consistent and has not changed to meet the Syrian people’s aspirations for a political solution and the Arab consensus on these moves”.
In a related context, Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida quoted “senior” diplomatic sources as saying that Arab foreign ministers will hold a meeting in Jeddah next week to discuss key Arab issues, in particular the return of the Syrian regime. in the Arab League.
