They called on the “National Interest” magazine to withdraw the American forces from the regions of northeastern Syria, saying that the retaliatory operations of the American army in response to the recent attacks failed to protect the American soldiers.
“Nothing has happened after 80 failed attempts to build deterrence,” said Geoff Lammer, a researcher at the Defense Priorities Institute, adding that the upcoming attacks will remind Washington that it cannot bomb its enemies and force them to surrender.
Lamir pointed out that the United States has no strategic reasons to stay in a region that has many pitfalls and few benefits, especially since the Iranian militias were originally established with the aim of expelling the American forces from the region, and they will continue their work until they leave.
Lamir added that the military presence in Syria and Iraq undermines the goals of containing Iran, and even gives it influence over the armed militias there.
