Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar announced that a new security meeting will be held with the Syrian regime in Moscow, the capital of Russia, on Tuesday.
Akar said that the trilateral meeting between Turkey, Russia and the Syrian regime’s defense ministers and intelligence chiefs on December 28 resulted in an emphasis on the continuation of the talks.
Efforts made after that meeting resulted in an agreement on Iran’s participation in these meetings.
On April 25, we planned to hold a four-way meeting in Moscow, the capital of Russia, and our goal is to resolve unresolved issues through dialogue and establish peace and stability in the region as soon as possible.
According to the Turkish Defense Minister, the talks are taking place in the light of mutual respect between the parties, adding that some positive developments are expected after tomorrow’s meeting.
He emphasized that Turkey has done and will continue to do everything it can for regional peace and will continue to pursue terrorists with determination.
Regarding the Syrian refugees in Turkey, Akar said, “We do not want a new wave of refugees and we aim to provide suitable conditions for Syrians to return to their homes in a safe and dignified manner.”
Besides, we have Syrian brothers and sisters working with us in Turkey and in Syria, and we cannot take a decision that will put them in trouble.”
