The Syrian-Palestinian Action Group found that Palestinian refugees residing in northwestern Syria and Turkey face great difficulties in obtaining official identity documents.
According to the group, the difficulties came after the Palestinian embassy in Ankara imposed official documents approved by the regime’s Foreign Ministry.
The group confirmed that hundreds of Palestinian families were denied registration of newborn babies in northern Syria and Turkey as a result of requests by the Palestinian embassy in Ankara, which prevented Palestinian refugee children from receiving health care, education and other things.
He stated that there are dozens of families who do not have a temporary residence card (Kemlik) in Turkey.
When many Palestinian-Syrian families in Turkey declare that they do not have relatives in Syria to obtain these identity documents, they have to apply to the Syrian regime’s consulate in Istanbul to make an appointment in advance.
Palestinian families stated that they were threatened with being deprived of renewing their residence in Turkey for failing to renew their passports.
He pointed out that most of the families lost their property and identity documents during their forced displacement by the Syrian regime under the threat of death, arrest or resettlement.
