Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov confirmed that Moscow is working in coordination with Turkey, Iran and the Syrian regime to set a date to hold a meeting at the level of deputy foreign ministers, in a way that aims to advance normalization talks between Ankara and Damascus.
The Russian official said the consultations were aimed at “preparing a meeting of foreign ministers”, but “no specific agreement has yet been reached for us”.
In his speech, he noted: “Actually, the faster this happens, the better. But on the other hand, our Syrian, Turkish and Iranian colleagues have work schedules. There is no specific date and we are continuing to coordinate”, according to the “Novosti” agency.
Yesterday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu suggested that the four-way meeting be held in Moscow in the coming days.
In his speech at the closing of the international donors conference held in Brussels yesterday, Çavuşoğlu emphasized that a solution in Syria can only be achieved through a peaceful solution by preserving Syria’s territorial integrity.
