Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that the track launched by Ankara for normalization with Damascus will contribute to “solving the Syrian crisis.”
In statements after his participation in the quadripartite meeting, Cavusoglu added, “For this reason, we attach great importance to advancing the political process and paving the way for national reconciliation.”
The Turkish minister stressed that the meeting was “constructive and fruitful,” and that Ankara “supports the continuation of this process without preconditions and in good faith.”
Cavusoglu indicated that there is a “complete agreement” with visions about combating “terrorist organizations” in Syria, according to “Anatolia”.
He pointed out that the participants stressed advancing the political process in accordance with Security Council Resolution No. 2254, and also affirmed their support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the importance of cooperation in humanitarian issues, and discussed “issues related to preparing the necessary infrastructure together for the safe and dignified return of Syrian refugees.”
He continued, “An environment of stability must be created in order to completely eliminate terrorist elements. We can also say: terrorism must be eliminated for the sake of a stable environment. What we mean is that the stability that will happen inside Syria will contribute to our cooperation in combating terrorism.”
