The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the capital Amman will host a meeting of the foreign ministers of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Egypt and Syria, as a continuation of the consultative meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
The official spokesman for the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, Sinan Majali, stated that the meeting will be held tomorrow, Monday, and comes as a continuation of the meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in the presence of Jordan, Iraq and Egypt, which was hosted by Saudi Arabia in the middle of this month.
He stressed that the meeting comes to build on the contacts made by the Arab countries with the Damascus government and in the context of its proposals, and the Jordanian initiative to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
Former Jordanian MP Nabil Ghaishan said that it is not required to solve all of Syria’s problems now, because what is available is the return of Syria to the Arab incubator, and then the dismantling of all problems in the future, according to Al-Ruya TV.
In turn, the “Ministry of Foreign Affairs” in the government of the Syrian regime announced the participation of Faisal al-Miqdad in a meeting that includes the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Monday.
The ministry said, in a post on its Facebook account, that “Faisal al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, will participate in a meeting of the ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq, which will be held tomorrow in Amman.”
She added that the meeting aims to “continue discussing a number of issues raised during recent meetings and contacts,” according to her description.
