Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed that Israel is providing only humanitarian, not military, aid to Ukraine as a result of the agreements it has signed with Russia in Syria.
“I must say clearly that we are facing a difficult situation in Israel. Israeli and Russian pilots are flying very close to each other in the skies of Syria,” Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu explained that Israel “decided a few years ago to resist attempts by Iran to open a third front against it from Syria.”
That’s why we made an agreement with the Russian government, the Russian air force and the Russian army in Syria not to shoot down each other’s planes,” he said.
This comes after Israel has agreed to sell anti-drone interference systems to Ukraine after it was determined not to provide any military aid for fear of tensions with Russia that could harm Israel’s security interests in Syria, according to the “Axios” website.
