Today Wednesday, the Qatar Fund for Development and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) signed a financing agreement to support the White Helmets’ core operations to ensure the continuation of life-saving services in Northwest Syria.
According to the Qatar News Agency, this support will enable the White Helmets to cover the basic costs of deploying volunteer field teams, maintaining and operating search and rescue equipment, and providing medical supplies to meet urgent humanitarian needs.
Collaboration between the Fund and the US Agency will ensure that the White Helmets’ operations are streamlined and proactively combated any disaster or crisis once it occurs, when the necessary equipment and capabilities are not lacking.
It is worth noting that the White Helmets responded directly by declaring a state of emergency in the northwest of the country after the earthquake that occurred on the 6th of last February in northwest Syria and in the south of Turkey, causing thousands of injuries and deaths.
