Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi announced that at the end of his visit to Damascus, 15 cooperation documents were signed between the two sides in various fields, adding that the visit “will be a positive and beautiful turning point for the development of relations”.
In the closing statement of the Iranian president’s visit, Damascus and Tehran emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations through continued political and economic cooperation, in addition to cooperation on reconstruction in Syria.
The statement condemned any illegal presence of military forces on Syrian territory, considering that military cooperation between Tehran and Damascus is aimed at combating “terrorism and extremism.”
In the statement, it was stated that Damascus had the “right to respond” to Israeli raids that destabilized the region, while it was emphasized that Washington’s decision to recognize the annexation of the occupied Syrian Golan was a flagrant violation of United Nations principles.
The bilateral statement condemned the sanctions imposed on Damascus and Tehran as a violation of international law and human rights, and called for the immediate lifting of the “inhuman” sanctions of the West.
In the statement, “positive” political developments, especially the constructive communication between Damascus and Arab countries, were welcomed.
