Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov announced on Monday that Moscow will host a four-way meeting on Syria early next month with the participation of Turkey, Russia, Iran and the Assad regime.
According to the Russian “TASS” news agency, Bogdanov said that Moscow plans to hold a four-way meeting in early April, which will be attended by the deputy foreign ministers of Russia, Turkey, Iran and the Syrian regime.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Bogdanov expressed his hope that the mediation mission, which aims to achieve “a very important strategic goal” of normalizing relations between Turkey and the Syrian regime, will result in a joint success.
“We are currently in Ramadan and there are many other situations, but work is underway to have the meeting soon.”
This meeting, which was planned to be held on March 15 and 16, was postponed abruptly and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that the Russian side wanted the meeting to be postponed because it could not prepare.
It is noteworthy that the Syrian regime has previously announced that it refuses to hold any political talks with Turkey before fulfilling its conditions, represented by the withdrawal of Turkish forces from Syria and the cessation of support for the opposition.
