Syrian refugees intend to sue the Bulgarian government for violations by Bulgarian border guards while crossing the Turkish border.
A group of local organizations has filed a series of lawsuits against the Bulgarian government, alleging that border guards used violent methods to repel Syrian migrants, according to China Media Group.
One of the Syrian refugees said that the guards took him to a military headquarters in Bulgaria, 3 kilometers from the border crossing, and as soon as he arrived with a group of Syrians, they got them out of cars and started beating them.
Another Syrian refugee residing in one of the camps stated that the guards ordered them to take out their phones, money and everything from their pockets, then opened their patrol cars and pushed their dogs to attack them as one of them was seriously injured.
Diana Radoslavova, Executive Director of the Center for the Voice of Legal Aid in Bulgaria, said: “They are vulnerable people who have fled an abusive authority against them, and now they still have the courage to stand up and raise their voices.” Sing again in front of another office.”
“99% of Syrians receive refugee status as soon as they apply, but preventing them from entering the country means preventing them from coming to apply for asylum.”
