The head of Global Justice, Dr. Haitham Albizem, made a visit to Al-Rukban camp in the eastern countryside of Homs, making him one of the few people to have visited the besieged camp since 2014, and the first specialist doctor to enter it.
Dr. Albizem was accompanied on this visit by the Executive Director of the Syrian Emergency Organization, Moaz Mustafa, and it took place in coordination with the United States of America and the international coalition forces.
The visit came within the framework of the “Syrian Oasis Operation” launched by Global Justice and the Syrian Emergency Organization last June, which succeeded in breaking the siege of the Rukban camp by Russia, Iran, and the Assad regime, and bringing in food, medical supplies, and school books.
During the visit, Dr. Haitham Albizem conducted a tour inside the camp to find out the humanitarian conditions there. He met with the besieged residents, spoke to them and provided medical consultations to them. He also discussed with the camp administration the most prominent difficulties facing them and the most important needs.
The camp residents expressed their gratitude to Global Justice and Dr. Albizem for the assistance provided to them, and for this gesture of breaking the siege and entering the camp in a rare event.
Global Justice had funded the printing and shipping of thousands of copies of textbooks to the Rukban camp to meet the needs of children who have been deprived of education for many years.
