Israeli newspaper The Jerusalem Post said that while the Syrian regime pursued normalization with Arab countries, it was playing a “dangerous game” by not reining in the Iranian militias in Syria.
The newspaper claimed that the regime wanted to present itself as responsible for Syria, but at the same time it facilitated instability.
In the news it published, the newspaper stated that it could not work in two directions, claiming that the regime controlled Syrian territory and allowed attacks from there.
The newspaper believed that the importance of recent missile launches from Syria towards Israel went beyond the missiles themselves and was related to the regime allowing Iranian militias to operate openly.
The newspaper linked the Iranian militia launching missiles at US bases in eastern Syria last month with the latest attacks targeting Israel, emphasizing that the Iranian militias undermined the regime’s own rhetoric about stability.
The newspaper warned that the recent attacks constitute a major increase in the level of the Syrian front and the ability of the Iranian militia to operate near the Golan Heights.
