Today, Wednesday, the US Central Command announced the targeting of a senior al-Qaeda leader, with a raid targeting his location in northwestern Syria.
“At 11:42 a.m. local time on May 3, Central Command forces carried out a unilateral strike in northwestern Syria targeting a senior al-Qaeda leader,” the US command said in a statement.
The US Central Command did not specify the identity of the targeted leader and whether he was killed in the strike, but indicated that it would provide more information later when that matter became available.
For its part, the Syrian Civil Defense Organization “White Helmets” said that a 60-year-old civilian named “Lutfi Hassan Masto” was killed by a missile strike from an unidentified drone that targeted him while he was working in sheep herding today, Wednesday, on the outskirts of the town of Qorqania, north of Idlib.
The organization indicated in a statement that the targeting also led to the death of a number of sheep, stressing that its teams recovered the body of the civilian and transported it to a medical point in the town of Qorqaniya, and inspected the place.
It is worth noting that private sources confirmed to “Global Justice News Syria” that 3 explosions were heard as a result of the bombing carried out by a drone, believed to be American, in the town of Qurqaniya in the northern countryside of Idlib.
