The Idlib Health Directorate warned that “approximately 3,300 cancer patients” in northwest #Syria are experiencing “extreme difficulty in providing adequate treatment for their critical cases due to the acute shortage of doses and medical devices, particularly radiological devices”.
Exacerbating the pain is the closure of the border crossing with Turkey (Bab Al-Hawa) and the lack of free treatment since the earthquake disaster.
According to the Idlib Health Directorate, approximately 1,200 cancer patients were prevented from entering hospitals in Turkey, while 400 patients returned because they stopped treatment after the earthquake.
The Directorate pointed out that the health personnel working in Idlib registered more than a thousand new cancer cases, including children and women.
According to the health official, around 40% of those with tumors are provided with free treatment, while 35% depend on the provision of non-free doses, while 25% of patients need treatment outside of Syria.
