Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stated that his country refused to withdraw from Syria before full stability was achieved.
Çavuşoğlu said in a press release today Wednesday that the Syrian regime’s approach to talking about withdrawing before starting a dialogue with Turkey is “unrealistic”.
He explained that the withdrawal of Turkish forces from Syria will take place after stabilization of the regions where these forces are located so that they do not become a terror corridor.
Çavuşoğlu emphasized that the withdrawal of Turkish forces does not mean that the regime will dominate parts of northern Syria.
If we withdraw, there will be serious conflicts, terrorist organizations will fill the gap, and many immigrants will come to the Turkish border in this uncertainty environment,” he said.
We need to fight terrorist organizations. ISIS and the People’s Protection Units want to divide Syria. “We have no eyes on Syrian territory,” he said.
Stating that the regime and the opposition know that Turkey is in favor of the unity of Syria’s borders and land, Erdoğan said, “All other parties know this as well.”
