The U.S. military carried out airstrikes in Syria this week, targeting Islamic State (ISIS) camps in the central Syrian desert and reportedly killing up to 35 ISIS militants. The strikes, conducted on Monday evening, aimed at multiple locations and ISIS senior leaders, according to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
This action follows several joint U.S.-Iraqi operations targeting ISIS forces in Iraq. While ISIS no longer holds significant territory, US Pentagon officials emphasize that the group remains a regional threat. CENTCOM stated that these latest strikes are intended to disrupt ISIS’s ability to plan and execute attacks against civilians and U.S. allies. There were no reported civilian casualties following these airstrikes.
